Your driving instructor training

Our training is provided by a team of full-time training officers who care about the industry and your career.

With RED Driving School, the UK’s leading instructor training organisation, our modern teaching techniques, tutor support facility and flexible course design offer you the best possible environment for success.

The course is structured in three sections – parts 1, 2 and 3.

The DSA allow you unlimited attempts at the part 1 test and three attempts at the part 2 and 3 tests if you need them. We're here to offer you continued support to ensure you are successful as quickly as possible.

We believe in being honest and transparent the second you walk through the door. We explain to all of our students that becoming an instructor with RED isn’t going to happen overnight, but with the right attitude and hard work you could be at the beginning of an exciting and prosperous career.

The tests set by the DSA are challenging. This is to ensure those who pass are fully prepared to take on the responsibility of teaching the next generation of drivers to be safe on the roads for life.

With our industry leading pass rates, we are proud to produce some of the finest instructors in the country. If you follow our training programme from start to finish and have the natural drive and tenacity, then you can pass with flying colours – all in various shades of RED of course!

How long will it take to pass?

This is one of the most common questions we’re asked, but can often be the most difficult to answer. Why? Because we all learn at a pace that naturally suits us, so some instructors pass within six months; others within nine – your lifestyle, resources, time and commitment all play a huge part in how quickly you will pass.

There may be external factors that could affect your learning programme; these are outside of our control. For example, DSA test availability and your CRB approval may affect your progression.

At RED, we’re flexible and understanding enough to support your individual needs. We also have a fantastic support network at RED who work tirelessly to ensure your training schedule is kept on track.
